MEET TAZ WATSON
Rooted in three generations of gemological expertise, Taz Watson is one of South Africa’s most sought after independent jewellery designers.
Guided by her deep love of gemstones, masterful use of colour and meticulous craftmanship, her work reimagines gems and diamonds into vibrant, modern heirlooms that reflect her unique aesthetic. Each piece is created to hold stories, sentiment and symbolism that will be treasured far beyond a single lifetime.
"I don’t believe that fine jewellery needs to be too serious or trend-driven– it should be a celebration of individuality and have a meaningful, heirloom quality about it. I believe jewellery is about the feelings it evokes in you – if you feel something special when you look at it and wear it, then it will always be meaningful and timeless”.

QUALIFICATIONS
While Taz grew up with an in-depth knowledge of the industry and was mentored by her grandfather and parents (who are all gemologists themselves), she formalized her
expertise by attending the esteemed Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York and California, where she studied jewellery design, jewellery manufacturing, computer-aided design and diamond and gemstone grading.
Taz brings extensive experience across all facets of the jewellery industry, including design, manufacturing, gemstone sourcing and cutting, retail, and procurement. Her expertise has been shaped over more than a decade of deep industry immersion both locally and abroad. Taz has been mentored over the years by international teachers and designers with experience from some of the world’s top high-jewellery houses, as well as expert gem-cutters and highly experienced goldsmiths, whom she works closely with to push creative boundaries and bring her whimsical designs to life.

DEEP ROOTS
For decades, Taz’s family has specialised in gemstones, diamonds, and fine jewellery - a legacy she proudly continues. Taz is fortunate to be able to draw on these deep industry connections that have been built over generations and has access to some of the world’s largest and most trusted diamond and gemstone cutters and suppliers.
Taz’s father, a top gemologist and jewellery and diamond expert, has been her greatest mentor. She continues to work closely with him to source exquisite, fairly priced gemstones and diamonds from around the world, carefully considering their provenance and ethical footprint. Their shared love of rare and exotic gems remains at the heart of the business, bringing extraordinary discoveries to clients across the world.
